String Instruments
Orchestral string instruments can be played by BOWING which means that the sound is produced by using a bow made from wood and horsehair.
Orchestral instruments can also be PLUCKED using the fingers to pluck the strings.
Guitars are played by STRUMMING, the player uses their fingers or a plectrum across the strings to make them sound.

Brass and Woodwind Instruments
Brass and Woodwind instruments are played by BLOWING into a mouthpiece using the breath.
Percussion Instruments
Percussion instruments can be described as TUNED or UNTUNED.
Percussion Instruments are played by STRIKING them with the hand or a beater.
